DTN COMMENTS:  All is quiet in cash cattle country this afternoon, with bids 
and asking prices not established. Significant trade volume will likely be 
delayed until the second half of the week. New showlists appear to be mixed, 
higher in Nebraska/Colorado and Kansas, but lower in Texas.

Today's slaughter totaled 109,000 head, 4,000 more than last week, but 12,000 
less than a year ago. Live cattle futures closed sharply higher, up 207 to 
272, while feeder issues ended the day mostly significantly higher, up 370 to 
610. Cattle futures are expected to close higher with light to moderate box 
movement.
